Two trends of studies of the sensitized photoeffect in semiconductors that
have been developed at S. I. Vavilov State Optical Institute All-Russia Sci
entific Center along the lines of academician A. N. Terenin's school of tho
ught are considered. These studies resulted in the development of a novel s
pectral sensitizer-a nanostructurized composite of nanocrystals of organic
and inorganic dyes in a polymeric matrix and the development of highly sens
itive and high-resolution photothermoplastic materials with injection-type
sensitization based on a matched multilayer (multicomponent) structure. (C)
