The experimental data are reported on the kinetics of methanol synthesis an
d water-gas shift reaction. Under certain conditions of methanol synthesis,
some anomalous kinetics was observed: an increase in the average rate of t
he reaction in the integral flow-type reactor with an increase in the conta
ct time. This unusual behavior is stipulated by the coupling of methanol sy
nthesis with the water-gas shift reaction. A modified scheme of the mechani
sm is proposed that accounts for this coupling.
