A band corresponding to the stretching vibrations of a Si=O bond at (1306 /- 1) cm(-1) of silanone groups (=Si-O)(2)Si=O stabilized on the activated
silica surface was detected and characterized quantitatively by FTIR spectr
oscopy. The data on the structure and chemical properties of the products o
f the reactions of these groups with CO2, N2O, and HC=CH molecules were obt
ained.
