Abstract
The mechanochemical reaction has been applied to synthesizing nano-sized am orphous Cu40Zr60 ahoy particles. The structure of Cu-Zr particles has been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscop y and differential thermal analysis. The tests show that the amorphous Cu-Z r particles are around 40 nm in size. The crystallization temperature of th e nano-sized amorphous Cu40Zr60 particles is lower than that of the corresp onding micron-scale particles. The formation mechanism of the nano-sized am orphous Cu40Zr60 alloy particles is also discussed. (C) 1998 Elsevier Scien ce S.A. All rights reserved.
