Abstract
The fruitbodies and cultures of A. areolatum and A. chailletii may be recog nized by using hymenial colours, basidiospore size, colour of mycelial mat on PDA, and presence or absence of oidia in culture. Basidiospore size is j ust as useful a characteristic for separating fruitbodies of A. areolatum a nd A. chailletii as presence or absence of oidia is for cultures. Conflicti ng information from previous literature is discussed.
