Vv. Bulon et Iv. Agenkov, RELATIVE INVOLVEMENT OF THE MICROPLANKTON SIZE FRACTIONS IN PHOSPHORUS UPTAKE IN DIFFERENT TYPES OF KARELIAN LAKES, Izvestia Akademii nauk SSSR. Seria biologiceskaa, (1), 1997, pp. 81-88
Application of radioactive phosphorus P-33 combined with differential
filtration made it possible to estimate the time of phosphorus turnove
r and the rate of its uptake by microplankton as a whole and in differ
ent size fractions. Specific features of the ecosystems of the studied
lakes were reflected in the relative rates of phosphorus uptake by th
e microbial fraction of microplankton.
