Abstract
The Micro Gap Wire Chamber (MGWC) proposed in the beginning of 1997 is a ne w gaseous detector configuration combining the stability and the gain of th e MWPC and the resolution of the Micro-Strip Gas Chamber. These new chamber s consist of cathode strips and anode wires separated by thin dielectric st rips. Here we report the first results obtained using a MGWC with a 2D read out.
