Analysis of inter-annual variations of surface chlorophyll concentration in the Black Sea by the data of CZCS radiometer

The inter-annual variations of surface plant pigment concentration measured by CSCZ radiometer in 1978-86 are analyzed in different regions of the Bla ck Sea. This index seems to correlate with cyclic oscillations of winter ai r temperature. In the western shallow regions it is also correlated with th e Danube discharge intensity. More intensive winter-spring blooms and sligh tly lower level of pigment concentration during the warm season are typical for years with mild winter. The peculiarities of hydrological regime of th e BlackSea seem to be the reason of these regularities.
