High-spin states in Rh-97,Rh-98 (Z=45) were populated via the Cu-65(S-36,xn
)Rh-97,Rh-98 (x=4,3) fusion-evaporation reactions. More than 40 additional
transitions have been identified and placed in the decay schemes of these n
uclei. The level scheme of Rh-97 has been extended up to tentative spins of
J(pi) = 39/2(+),37/2(-), and the placement of some of the previously known
transitions has been revised. The level structure of Rh-97 indicates a sin
gle-particle nature and the observed levels are reproduced well by spherica
l shell-model calculations. The level scheme of Rh-98 has been extended up
to spins J similar to 20 (h) over bar and up to an excitation energy of sim
ilar to 10 MeV. The low-spin structure of Rh-98(J less than or equal to 10
(h) over bar), appears to indicate also a single particle structure, as sup
ported by the stretched coupling scheme [Rh-97(J')x nu(d(5/2))= Rh-98(J)].
