Assuming a Gaussian approximation for the QCD gluodynamics, all the nonpert
urbative physics can be encoded into two parameters: the gluon correlation
length T-g and the gluon condensate G(2). These parameters are sufficient i
n order to describe the heavy-heavy quark nonperturbative interaction. In t
his work we adopt the same framework in order to study heavy-light bound st
ates in the non-recoil limit. Spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking and a co
nfining chiral non-invariant interaction emerge quite naturally. The gap eq
uation is solved and discussed. In particular a relation between the light
quark condensate and T-g is derived. The energy spectrum for the bound stat
e equation is evaluated and commented. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All r
