Important contributions for progress in metallography

The article gives an insight into the progress in metallography over the la st 22 years. The testing of new metallographic preparation and investigatio n instruments stands in the foreground; therefore the Ultrafrase, Accutom, electrolytic preparation and laser scanning microscopy are mentioned. Metal lographic investigations of diffusion welded metal/ceramic and glass/glass composites and the organisation and execution of round-robin tests for the preparation of metals, ceramics, semiconductors and material composites are described.
