The transient ozone generation process in the lower atmosphere is studied i
n this work, using a simplified set of chemical reactions for the NOx and h
ydrocarbon photolysis. We obtained a reduced kinetic mechanism and solved t
he resulting governing equations using the boundary layer theory due to the
appearance of two time scales in the problem. We obtained in closed form,
the temporal evolution of the ozone concentration as a function of the phys
ico-chemical parameters.
