Experimental data on the electrophoretic mobility of Ca-montmorillonite cla
y particles in electrolyte solutions at different concentrations were measu
red. The values of the zeta potential are qualitatively analyzed by conside
ring the structural properties of the montmorillonite particles and the typ
e of anion and cation in electrolyte as well as the concentration of the el
ectrolyte. When Na salts were used, the zeta potential increased with incre
asing concentration.
