The behaviour of aqueous solutions of a polyamidhydroxyurethan type polymer
under irradiation with ultraviolet light was studied. The decrease in visc
osity of these solutions was found to depend both on the polymer concentrat
ion and on the flux of incident radiation. The number of chain scissions, t
he quantum yield of chain scission and the rate of degradation decrease wit
h concentration of polymer in solution, at the same values of the incident
radiation flux. The chain scissions increase with the flux of incident radi
ation, at the same polymer concentrations.
