Abstract
We fabricated a dense, bulk (Bi, Pb)(2)Sr2Ca2Cu3Oy (Bi-2223) bar by sinter forging. The bar exhibited excellent phase purity and strong texture of the c axes preferentially aligned parallel to the forging direction. Elastic c onstants were obtained at room temperature; one elastic constant was also m easured to 760 degrees C. Bi-2223 proved to be approximate to 25-30% stiffe r than Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox.
