Abstract
A new macrocyclic heterodinuclear (FeCoIII)-Co-III complex, prepared by the condensation of 2,6-diformylpyridine N-oxide with 1,3-diaminopiopane in th e presence of FeCl2. 4H(2)O and CoCl2. 6H(2)O, and formulated as FeCoLCl6. C2H5OH . 8H(2)O, was characterized by elemental analyses, IR and Mossbauer spectra and investigated electrochemically on an ultramicrodisk platinum el ectrode. The results show that the electrode reaction can be thought as a n early reversible transfer process. The diffusion coefficient is 1.93 x 10(- 6) m(2)s(-1) and E degrees is -0.229V (versus s.c.e) and alpha = 0.877. The average electron transfer rare constant k degrees' is 3.21 x 10(-3) cm s(- 1).
