Abstract
Experimental evidence for coherent pi(+) production in C-12(He-3, t pi(+))C -12 charge exchange reactions at 2 GeV is presented. The excited states of carbon are found to be suppressed relative to the ground state. Angular dis tributions show that the momentum of the coherent pions is directed along t he momentum transfer.
