Abstract
We analyze the response of an ensemble of Is-excitons driven by a femt osecond optical pulse, beyond traditional ''slowly varying amplitudes' ' approach. For optical pulses of a given duration it is shown that th e off-resonance optical field can evolve into a stable soliton with no nzero asymptotic behavior. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
