Abstract
Anionic derivatives of methyl beta-laminarabioside, methyl beta-laminaratri oside and methyl beta-maltoside, substituted in the primary hydroxyl groups , were synthesized and characterized spectroscopically Sulfa ted methyl lam inara-oligosaccharides (DP greater than or equal to 5) were also prepared. These model compounds for conformational studies allow the comparison of th e influence of different anionic substituents (sulfate, phosphate, succinat e and carboxylate) on the beta-(1 --> 3) and alpha-(1 --> 4) glycosidic bon d.
