Fibro-adhesive peritoneal tuberculosis is a rare peritoneal disease. In thi
s study, we report 15 cases (11 women and 4 men). With a mean age of 34 yea
rs. The diagnosis was established clinically by the presence of abdominal g
uarding. Abdominal ultrasonography showed intestinal agglutination, thicken
ed peritoneum and ascites. Thickened peritoneum was found on laparoscopy wi
th tubercles and multiple adhesions fixing the viscera to the anterior abdo
minal wall. If laparoscopy is dangerous, the diagnosis can be made by lapar
otomy and histology. A favourable course was observed after antituberculous
treatment.
