Abstract
Calmodulin-dependent protein kinase IV (CaMKIV) is a key mediator of Ca2+-i nduced gene expression. This serine/threonine kinase is itself activated by a calmodulin kinase kinase. In the present contribution the gene structure , regulation of activity, the role in Ca2+-dependent gene expression, and t he hormonal induction and controlled expression of CaMKIV during tissue dev elopment are reviewed.
