Response functions of Bonner sphere spectrometers were calculated for
neutron energies from 10 MeV to 1.5 GeV by the Monte Carlo high energy
transport code HADRON. Calculations were made for two types of therma
l neutron detector inside the Bonner spheres: He-3 proportional counte
r and (LiI)-Li-6 scintillation detector. The results obtained are comp
ared with calculations using the MCNP and the LAHET Monte Carlo codes.
An analysis of some possible error sources in the calculation of high
energy response functions and in the interpretation of the experiment
al data in high energy neutron fields is presented.
