Abstract
A simplified turbulent model and a modified k-<INF></INF> epsilon two equat ion model are proposed to describe the liquid velocity profiles in a bubble column taking into consideration of the effect of gas drag force and gas h old-up. In the simplified model the Reynolds equation of motion was adopted and the turbulent viscosity was calculated from an empirical correlation w hich was deduced from our experimental data. The calculated liquid velocity profiles were compared between the proposed model and the standard k-epsil on two equation model as well as experimental data. The result shows that t he proposed model simulates and predicts the liquid velocity held most sati sfactorily and in good. agreement with the experimental measurement.
