Abstract
Mifepristone (RU-486) has recently been granted approval from the Food and Drug Administration for the early termination of pregnancy. Avail ability is anticipated during 1997. This article describes the pharmac ologic function of mifepristone and discusses its potential clinical u se in the United States, including its safety, efficacy, and possible complications.
