H. Hashimoto et al., SERIAL ASSESSMENTS OF MIDDLE CEREBRAL-ARTERY FLOW VELOCITY WITH TRANSCRANIAL DOPPLER SONOGRAPHY IN THE RECOVERY STAGE OF ECLAMPSIA - A CASE-REPORT, Angiology, 48(4), 1997, pp. 355-358
The pathophysiologic changes of eclampsia and/or hypertensive encephal
opathy are unclear. Changes of middle cerebral artery flow velocity du
ring the recovery stage in a case of eclampsia are reported. After the
disappearance of signs and symptoms, the flow velocity began to incre
ase, owing probably to delayed vasospasm, which was confirmed by magne
tic resonance angiography. The vasospasm may be a consequence of eclam
psia and may be of small significance in the pathogenesis.
