Excitation of magnetostatic surface waves by coplanar waveguide transducers
is analyzed by using the integral kernel expansion method. The Fourier int
egral for the current density is derived in terms of an unknown normal comp
onent of the magnetic flux density on slot region of a coplanar waveguide.
The integral kernel is expanded into a series of Legendre polynomials and t
hen applying Galerkin's method to the unknown held reduces the Fourier inte
gral to a system of linear equations for the unknown coefficients. In this
process, we should take into account the edge conditions which show nonreci
procal characteristics depending on frequency. The present method shows exc
ellent agreement with experiments.
