Abstract
By extensive standard and histogram Monte Carlo simulations, we show that t he magnetic phase transition is of first order in the frustrated J(1)-J(2) Heisenberg model on a simple-cubic lattice. Despite the infinite ground-sta te degeneracy, the system is shown to retain only the collinear spin config urations at low temperatures. (C) 1998 American Institute of Physics.
