Abstract
A novel three-dimensional magnetostatic solution based on a modified scalar potential method has been developed. This method has significant advantage s over the traditional total scalar, reduced scalar, or vector potential me thods. The new method was successfully applied to a three-dimensional geome try of an iron core inductor and a permanent magnet motor. The results obta ined are in close agreement with those obtained from traditional methods. ( C) 1998 American Institute of Physics. [S0021-8979(98)38411-X].
