Abstract
In CAGD a typical problem is that of digitising errors: data points ha ve been obtained from some digitising device, and a fair surface is so ught through them. In many cases, however, the digitised data are inac curate. There are different ways of solving this problem. We propose t o consider the surface as a plate and to minimise its potential energy via finite elements. We use comonotone Bezier splines as ansatz funct ions. The background for our forgoing is based on the method of finite elements.
