A methodology for the design of fixtures for the multipole magnetization of
axially magnetized permanent magnet rings is presented. The methodology, w
hich is based on three-dimensional analytical field calculation techniques,
embraces the calculation of the fixture electrical parameters, the electri
cal simulation of the fixture performance and the calculation of the level
of saturation achieved in the permanent magnet. The methodology is validate
d by means of an experimental case study on a 6 pole isotropic NdFeB magnet
