The effect of low Fe substitution in Mn sites of La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 is presente
d. We report the electrical and magnetic properties of these materials in t
he Fe concentration range x = 0 to x = 0.1. The metal-insulator transition
temperature is found to vary significantly with very small Fe doping. The m
etal to insulator transition temperature increases slightly when a very sma
ll amount of Fe is doped (<1 %) and then it decreases significantly with fu
rther doping of Fe. The magnetic moment of La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 decreases almost
linearly with Fe doping at room temperature. (C) 1998 American Institute of
