Abstract
We briefly outline the physics underlying the mechanical and thermal proper ties of brown dwarfs, which characterize their interiors and their atmosphe res. We mention the most recent improvements realized in the theory of brow n dwarfs and the connection with experimental and observational tests of th is theory.
