An analytical solution to symmetric angle-ply laminated shear-flexible cyli
ndrical panels subjected to a uniformly distributed static load is presente
d. A moderately-deep and space-thick shell theory, according to Sanders, is
incorporated to account for the curvature effects as well as the effects o
f transverse shear deformations into the shell formulation, resulting in hi
ghly coupled five second-order partial differential equations in five unkno
wns. They are solved in conjunction with all-edge clamped boundary conditio
ns utilizing the methodology recently developed by Kabir and Chaudhuri (199
4). The numerical results presented for various parametric effects are comp
ared with the available finite element method.
