Abstract
The effective spectral emissivities for a SiNC ceramic matrix composite mat erial are measured as a function of temperature and duration of the heat cy cle. After several heat cycles an increase in the value of the average spec tral emissivity was observed. The increase in the value of the effective sp ectral emissivity was attributed to the formation of SiO2 layer on the surf ace area of the SiNC sample. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
