Abstract
The diffusive kinetics in a symmetric double well with a high barrier fluct uating randomly in time is investigated by means of the corresponding Fokke r-Planck equation. Ln the Smoluchowski limit explicit solutions for the equ ilibrium and the relaxation eigenfunctions are given. Moreover, the least n egative eigenvalue, the relaxation rate, is calculated for all values of th e barrier fluctuation rate. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
