Abstract
The spin polarization of a 2D electron gas is studied for values of the Lan dau filling factor v around unity in a CdTe (0.22% Mn) quantum well with g- factor tunable through zero. Anomalies in the circular polarization of the trion absorption for filling factor v < 1 might be due to skyrmion excitati ons. In this hypothesis, as the g-factor increases, the number of reversed spins per skyrmion decreases from 9 to 1. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. Al l rights reserved.
