The possibility of confining two interacting electrons in a magnetic quantu
m dot is investigated. Confinement is possible if the energy of two electro
ns localised inside the dot is less than the energy of two non-interacting
electrons; one localised in the centre of the dot and one localised an infi
nite distance from the centre. Numerical results for a GaAs dot indicate re
gions where confinement is possible as a function of magnetic dot radius an
d confinement held strength. The confinement is enhanced if an external mag
netic field is applied or in an InSb dot. Results for the electron density,
pair distribution and pair correlation functions are also presented. (C) 1
