A 3-dimensional numerical model describing the dilution in the near field a
round dense vertical jets in a cross flow is formulated and validated again
st laboratory experiments. The validation shows that the model reproduces t
he flow pattern well, though the dilution is underestimated by 20%. The mod
el is applied to a case study where the dilution from two vertical jets at
an angle in shallow water is described. It is demonstrated that a 20% incre
ase in dilution is possible. It is concluded that the model may become a va
