Pulmonary sequestration

A review of 20 surgically treated patients over a 15-year period with pulmo nary sequestration is presented. Eighteen patients with intralobar and 2 wi th extralobar sequestration were operated. In one patient sequestration was bilateral. Two patients had associated bronchial carcinoma with sequestrat ion.Thirteen patients had lobectomy, 5 atypical segmentectomy and 2 had exc ision of extralobar sequestration. The essential points of diagnostic proce dures, indications and technique of surgical treatment are discussed There were no operative mortality.
