Abstract
Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is a very frequent pathology particularly i n perimenopausal age (greater than or equal to 40 years). The Authors repor t the experience of the Department of Ob/Gyn of Policlinico Casilino, Rome from January 1995 up to July 1998. The hysteroscopic evaluation of 1386 pat ients is reviewed. The Authors analyze in derail the main cause of metrorrh agia describing the hysteroscopic aspect and relative incidence. Finally, s ome considerations concerning the great usefulness that a simple and accura te diagnostic investigation such as hysteroscopy represent in a routine dia gnostic procedure, are reported.
