Abstract
Objective: to examine the long-term experience with laparoscopic cystectomy as a treatment for benign adnexal tumours by ultrasound re-examination, qu estionnaires and retrospective study of the files. Results: Percentage of recurrence of benign nonfunctional ovarian cysts tre ated by cystectomy after an average follow-up of 23 months was 4,8%. Three percent of the patients had some minor postoperative complications. Fifty-o ne percent of the women who wanted to become pregnant conceived after conse rvational treatment. Complaints decreased significantly after the operation and these changes may be lasting. Conclusion: Conservational laparoscopic surgery of adnexal cysts is a valua ble treatment for premenopausal women, especially if they want to retain fe rtility.
