V. Zaporozhan et al., Analysis of cases of reproductive failures in clomifen-citrate-resistant patients with polycystic ovaries having undergone ovarian laparoscopy, 7TH CONGRESS OF THE EUROPEAN SOCIETY FOR GYNAECOLOGICAL ENDOSCOPY, 1998, pp. 49-52
The purpose of the study is to investigate the structure of a group of clom
ifen-citrate-resistant women with polycystic ovaries who didn't conceive af
ter laparoscopic electrocoagulation of the ovaries. The material consisted
of 80 clomifen-citrate-resistant patients, who had been treated by using th
e method of laparoscopic electrocoagulation by a standard technique. 54 (67
%) patients became pregnant without any additional methods, in 2 of the cas
es (4%) the pregnancy was tubal. 12 (15%) patients conceived after using cl
omifen-citrate and/or gonadotropins. 14 (18%) women didn't conceive during
the 12 months of the follow-up. Additional examination demonstrated: 3 (21%
) patients had proximal tubal occlusion due to the uterine synechia; 4 (29%
) women had distal tubal occlusion due to adhesion process of the adnexa, f
ormed because of primary laparoscopic intervention; in 7 (50%) cases ovulat
ion was not restored. These 7 patients were overweight, with high level of
LH (20-30 IU/L) and amenorrhea. We have concluded that the cause of unconce
ption were not uniform and require further additional consideration.
