Abstract
Our objective was to describe the eligibility criteria and a simple procedu re for extracting axillary lymph nodes in order to avoid contamination of s cars in patients undergoing lymphadenectomy through axilloscopy. Twenty-sev en patients with T1-T2 (<3cm)NOMO breast cancer suitable for lumpectomy wer e eligible. Lymph nodes chains were extracted in an endobag. All but 3/27 p atients were pN0, whereas all patients were MO. Mean follow-up was 7 months . No local recurrence was observed. We conclude that selection of T1-T2(<3 cm)NOMO breast cancer and removal of lymph nodes in an endobag may prevent local recurrence in patients undergoing lymphadenectomy through axilloscopy .
