Breast cancer tamoxifen therapy and uterine problems

Forty three women operated for breast cancer in the past (22 premenopausal and 21 post menopausal)treated with tamoxifen 20mg daily for 1 to 12 years were submitted in the study,The protocol included physical examination, vag inal ultrasound, diagnostic hysteroscopy and dilatation and curretage with histology,Thirty one of the cases were asymptomatic (16 premenopausal and 1 5 postmenopausal) and 12 presented uterine bleeding (6 premenopausal and 6 postmenopausal) or 27.9% Simple hyperplasia with no atypia was found in 17 cases (39.5%), endometrial polyps in 8 cases (18.6%) with no malignancy,whi le no endometrial cancer was found in all the presented cases.
