Rg. Long et al., Research productivity of graduates in management: Effects of academic origin and academic affiliation, ACAD MGMT J, 41(6), 1998, pp. 704-714
We examined the relationships among status of academic origin, status of ac
ademic affiliation, and research productivity for a sample of doctoral grad
uates in management. Contrary to expectations, the status of a graduate's a
cademic origin did not appear to be strongly associated with his or her res
earch productivity. The status of his or her academic affiliation, however,
had a relatively strong association with research productivity in terms of
both number of publications in top journals and citation counts of these p
ublications.
