The way of production and the magnetostriction investigation of ferromagnet
ic composites within an elastomer matrix are described in this paper. The p
roduced composites consisted of silicon steel particles of 0.15-0.20 mm in
size and filling factor 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8, dispersed in the silicone matrix
. The investigation of these composite samples was carried out in a homogen
eous magnetic field with the range of 0-8 T produced through Bitter's magne
t. The giant magnetostriction of order 10(-2), its fast increase similar to
the burst effect, and the magnetostriction hysteresis were found in this i
nvestigation.
