Cyclization of a 38-mer oligodeoxyribonucleotide on a Cyclic template
was studied by the chemical and enzymic ligation methods. Both structu
res and yields of the reaction products depended on the ligation metho
d and the nucleotide and template sequences. The chemical ligation res
ulted in the formation of catenanes, whose structures were confirmed b
y hydrolysis with the MvaI restriction endonuclease. Presence of G/C-r
ich clusters near the formed internucleotide bond favored the catenane
formation.
