Abstract
Phyllophaga (Phytalus) triticophaga, a new species of Melolonthidae, is des cribed from wheat and other grain crops of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It is included in the "pruinosa" species group and differences with Phyllophaga bahiana Saylor, P. laminata (Moser), P. arrowi Saylor and P. propinqua (Mos er) are outlined. Third-stage larva of P. triticophaga is also described an d diagnostic structures are illustrated.
