Abstract
New lipid formulations of amphotericin B - AmBisome, Amphotec, and Abelcet - have dramatically decreased the toxicity associated with amphotericin B a nd have made this group of agents the treatment of choice for visceral leis hmaniasis, An agent of a completely different chemical class, the aminoglyc oside aminosidine, was 97% curative in India.
