J. Dusek et al., Evaluation of relations between performance discipline scores in Friesian mares at performance tests, CZEC J ANIM, 43(12), 1998, pp. 565-569
Results of performance tests were evaluated in three groups of Friesian mar
es with frequencies of 24, 41 and 12 individuals. Three-year mares underwen
t five-week training at the main training center in Drachten. The level of
mare performance was evaluated in all test disciplines. Besides this elemen
tary analysis of scores and their variability, differences in trait, varian
ces between the groups were examined. Differences in the pace, trot, rideab
ility and working character were significantly different. Relations of scor
es in the other test disciplines were also studied. Mares with good movemen
t mechanics were found to receive better evaluation also in other disciplin
es. It is recommended to include endurance tests in the applied testing sys
tem. The results of this study provide data for comparison with tests of ho
rses of other autochthonous breeds.
